National AAROM Meeting
Overview
The annual National AAROM Meeting is an action-oriented operational meeting that brings Indigenous Executives of AAROM departments with Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) Indigenous program staff to share information and collaborate on joint initiatives. The meeting is co-designed and co-developed by a joint Indigenous-DFO Steering Committee.
Purpose
To provide a forum to share information and develop joint tools and solutions for the network of AAROM departments.
Objectives
For Directors of AAROM departments to:
- Build partnerships;
- Discuss operational challenges and solutions;
- Share knowledge and expertise; and,
- Develop tools and solutions to help strengthen the AAROM network.

Survey to AAROM departments to identify specific topics to be discussed at the inaugural meeting
DFO-APC Interchange begins to support the work of strengthening the AAROM network through the National AAROM Meeting and a marketing and partnership toolkit
Ad hoc Steering Committee (SC) formed to inform the development of inaugural Annual National AAROM Meeting
Inaugural Annual National AAROM Meeting, hosted by the Okanagan Nation Alliance, February 4th – 6th, in Kelowna, BC.
SC review and analyze meeting materials to develop key recommendations for both improving the meeting as well as supporting the advancement of key topics
New member joins the SC to plan the Second Annual National AAROM Meeting
Survey to Directors of AAROM departments to set focus areas under key discussion topics
Working groups created to help inform the development of approaches and tools in preparation for the Second National AAROM Meeting.
Second National AAROM Meeting, hosted by the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI, November 19th – 21st in Charlottetown, PEI
Work further expands to determine best approaches to address recommendations coming out of the meeting in Charlottetown.
