Fourth National AAROM Meeting
Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribal Council
The Fourth National AAROM Meeting was hosted by the Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribal Council and the Hupacasath First Nation in Port Alberni, BC. The meeting was held April 16 to 18, 2024 at the Hupacasath House of Gathering. Over 80 representatives from 33 organizations participating in the AAROM (Aboriginal Aquatic Resource and Oceans Management) program met for discussions and collaboration. During this event, graphic recorders captured many of the themes, ideas, and stories shared and discussed by participants. <br />
The co-development and hosting of the Fourth National AAROM Meeting
The meeting and its agenda were co-developed by the host organization and the AAROM Network Steering Committee, and was informed by recommendations and action areas from previous national and virtual meetings. These topics include:
- AAROM Hub Website
- Indigenous Knowledge Systems/Traditional Knowledge
- Capacity assessment framework & support (Capacity Development Team) & Indigenous Training & Skills Development (ITSD)
- AAROM Innovation and Collaboration Fund (ICF)
- Developing human resource capacity (tools and resources)
- Youth-Elder knowledge transfer
- Networking and mentoring
- Communication strategy
